This we talked about the differences of adult mentoring and teaching children. While the concepts sound the same, the formats are very different. Papa said that inspiring and motivating a learner is the way to grab their attention. However, adult mentoring needs to be related to real life examples for the adult to be able to relate. Furthermore, children do require more instruction and direction from adults. While adults need more coaching.
This week I learned from my peers:
- Tristan talked about how all our experiences can be learning experiences.
- Jim discussed in more detail the differences between teaching children and mentoring adults.
- Jule talked about the similarities of teaching children and mentoring adults.
